Today's horoscopes.

by Canadian Astrologer John Rutherford

Check Your Chart, for the Week of 1 February, 2010
Compared to the week before, what a plain to boring week the last one was.  The Sun was in trine to Saturn and all took a turn for the quiet.  Canada is setting emissions caps.  Boring.  Obama markets version 2.0.  Boring.  Toyota has a batch of sticky pedals.  So what?  Boring.  An Iranian cleric nobody here has heard of wants to show no Islamic mercy to political opponents.  We’ve heard this nonsense many times.  The guy is one more nut-job with some influence.  Nothing new.
We’re still waiting, at this writing, to see the results of the closest Full Moon of the Year aligning, almost to the hour, with Mars, the classical God of War.  Oh, plenty of personal stirrings have already been seen, but it’s as if the Moon was so close to the alignment, the Sun – Mars alignment went to sleep in pubic.  Mars is a personal Planet, so his first realm of influence is with very personal motivations, things underground.
If there are going to be hurt, angry, and impatient (Mars on his bad side) feelings (Moon, ruler of moods and feelings), then they tend to stay more in the immediate emotional neighbourhood.  You take it out on the ones you know and love, right?
Mars also stirs the fears, not the kind of thing taken to the public square.  He hates exposure, can’t take much criticism, so only a select audience will do.  Tempers get short, flare for a moment, and then, if those being afflicted get lucky, fade rather quickly.  Mars really isn’t known for staying power (part of the fear).  That’s the realm of Saturn, mighty No. 2 of the Giant Planets.
Of course, Mars also aspected a legitimate Giant, Uranus, on Sunday.  These two can form a nasty, to deadly, duo working on deep seated angers (Mars), insecurities and anxieties (Uranus).  It’s now the kind of thing where any excuse will do for something to pop.  Go ahead, light a spark.

This Week: Monday is nice.  Take advantage while you can.  The Sun – Mars opposition finds fertile social ground for loosing personal slights by Tuesday.  Yes, it’s personal, but since expression there gets a snub (Venus to Saturn), what’s a person to do but crank the tension and hang out the dirty linen in public?  That’ll keep the gossips talking for days.  Not nice, but it’s news.
The sharply clawed cat can’t get back in a ripped bag till the weekend.  Friday is too shredded to do much mending.  The Cosmic cops can’t hear through the static until Saturday, and can’t reach the global scene till Sunday.  By then, personal damage is done and we’re too shamed to show much face.  It’s time to call a big Time Out!  Find one.

Nota Bene:  Revolutions start like this: Times are good, then times are bad and those at the top get tough.  Times get good again, pressure come off, and then the revolution.
If you can’t evolve, at least revolve.  Learn your pressure points at

Monday, 1 February.  (Moon in Virgo.  Mercury aspects Jupiter.  18 Card, 3 Mut)
Maybe yesterday, but this is no bold bombast.  This eases the tone, opens the ear, and makes for agreements, especially for those seeking change.  It’s what you do, not just say.

Tuesday, 2 February.  (Moon in early Libra.  The Sun aspects Venus / Mars.  13 degrees of Fixed Signs, 28 Mut)
Being eager is refreshing and certainly welcome.  Show off, take the chance.  Take this all the way, to the logical end, when strutting for others.  Or, is this dance for the mirror?
(Venus aspects Saturn.  19 Fixed, 4 Cardinal)
You gave it a full workout and did your best.  So, now back off, take a rest and let the rest take it to the next level, or not.  Anyway, you’re done, nothing more for this moment.
(The Sun aspects Saturn / Uranus.  14 Fixed, 29 Mutable)
Pushing past your limits, or what anyone should be expected to do?  Now, you’re pushing into the make-it-or-break-it zone.  Hope you have plenty of bandages.

Wednesday, 3 February.  (Moon in Libra.  The Sun aspects Saturn / Neptune.  15 Fixed, 0 Cardinal)
Those running marathons know to set a steady pace.  Those into music know rhythm and timing.  Those into comedy take the pause to build the payoff.  Stay loose not to lose.

Friday, 5 February.  (Moon in Scorpio.  The Sun aspects Mars / Neptune.  16 Fixed, 1 Cardinal)
Pushed to a point where everything irritates, nothing comes together, what do you do?  Go shopping, get out of town, have a nap, ‘cuz this ain’t workin’ and you need a break.  Don’t bite into something bigger than your head, don’t run past your headlights, don’t...
(Mercury sextile Uranus.  9 and 24 degrees of All Signs)
This would normally open up space for bright ideas, but Mercury has been taxed, over stressed and somewhat confused of late.  This works better letting all in place stay in place.  See, no more mental cramps.

Sunday, 7 February.  (Moon in Sagittarius.  The Sun aspects Saturn.  19 Fixed, 4 Cardinal)
The Sun’s last aspect was to Mars, the Lord of Hurry-Up, I-Want-It-Now, and Gotta-Do!  Lethargy out, zip in.  Well, here comes the cop, you’re over the line and need regulation.  Or, tough it to keep going steady, even on an uphill grind.
(Venus aligns with Neptune.  25 degrees of Fixed Signs, 10 Cardinal)
Grab a fist full if mist or a snoot of toot.  Chase the wind or fill a bottomless pit.  All goes against the grain of gain, but is fine for loving the lost and honouring the offbeat.
If you want the "horrible-scopes", go somewhere else.  If you want the meaning behind them, stay on.

Is your Number up?
Check Your Four Personal Points for every day (see below).  If the numbers match, this day is meant for you!

Each forecast shows: the Moon Sign, the Planetary Aspect, and Numbers of degrees in Signs for the Planetary Aspect.
The Moon Sign is the Sign the Moon is in for that day.  The Moon Sign gives advantage to the Sign it is in, puts extra pressure on the opposite Sign, and tends to cross up or neutralise the Signs at right angles.  For example, with Fixed Signs, if the Moon is in Taurus, Taurus has the advantage, Scorpio gets challenged, and Leo and Aquarius get shifted or crossed up.
The Planetary Aspect is where action is released.  It's the Excuse.  Unlike daily Horoscopes that suggest each day has the same level of influence, this is the core of changes in the daily energies.
The Sign Numbers are the degrees in the Signs of the Zodiac being emphasised.  If the degree for any day is close to any degree ofYour Four Personal Points (see below), within a degree or so, THIS IS YOUR DAY.  Pay extra ATTENTION.
You may have several days in the week activated for you, or you may have none.  As a degree hits one of Your Four Personal Points, the forecast tells about the important things in your life.  The daily forecasts tell you when.  The overall story comes through over time.  Sooner or later, the degrees of the Forecast catch up to all Your Points.

Your Four Personal Points are, in order of importance:
The Ascendant, the Mid-heaven, the Moon, and the Sun.
These are the most important Points of your Horoscope, calculated from your birth date, your birth-place, and the time of day you drew your first breath.  The first two Personal Points, the Ascendant and Mid-heaven, are the points that fix the Earth in space for your birth time at your specific birth place.  We live on the Earth, not the Sun or the Moon.  The Ascendant, also called Your Rising Sign, is more important than your Sun Sign.

Simply, and generally only, forecasts that affect your:
Ascendant     relate to matters in your environment.  Use it to see what's in your "face".
Mid-heaven  relate to matters in your personal life.    Use it to see what's in your mind.
Moon           relate to matters in your emotional life.   Use it to see what's in your heart.
Sun              relate to matters in your physical life.        Use it to see what's in your core.

The Signs of the Zodiac are:
Card:
Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn)
Fix: Fixed Signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius)
Mut: Mutable Signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces)

Heaven, Help Us!  The forecast is the mood of the moment.
When it rains, we all get wet, no matter what "Sign" we are.
